High Density Polyethylene Plant (SOCAR Polymer LLC)

The High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Plant, which is one of the production facilities of the SOCAR Polymer Company established on 16 July 2013, was commissioned on 18 February 2019 at the opening ceremony held with the participation of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

The HDPE plant represents the final link in an integrated economic value chain consisting of the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery and the Azerikimya Ethylene & Polyethylene Plant. Combining these enterprises as raw material suppliers in a single value chain ensures their high operational efficiency.

The HDPE plant, operating based on technology acquired from INEOS, meets high standards of production process and product quality. With an annual production capacity of 120,000 tons, the HDPE plant has a laboratory in the production area equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and conducts various tests 24/7 to achieve the high quality of the products and ensure customer satisfaction.

The HDPE plant produces more than 15 types of high-pressure Polyethylene, which are included in the annual production plan according to the market demand. Different types of HDPE are produced by extrusion, blow molding, injection molding and other processing methods. HDPE is used in manufacturing products for various purposes by processing methods. For example, a carbon black compound HM0359PE grade is used in the production of water, gas, and industrial pressure pipes as it has high hardness, environmental impact resistance and meets the requirements of the PE100 global standard.

Natural grade HM0349PE, which is another product of the factory, is designed for pressure pipe production. In addition, the HDPE plant produces HD0856MO, HD1556MO, HD2556MO, HD4056MO, HD9056MO grades, and the like, which meet the requirements of producing caps and plugs of various sizes used in the packaging of carbonated or non-carbonated water and non-food industry. HL1050BF grade is used to produce Polyethylene bags for daily use and insulation materials used in the construction of greenhouses and other structures. HD0358BM grade is used in the chemical industry to produce most household products and high rigidity containers up to 30 liters for packaging of various oils, food, and pharmaceutical products.

During 2019-2024, HDPE's export geography included Turkey, China, Austria, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania, and the Netherlands, as well as a few CIS countries, totaling 14 countries.
