Interfax-Azerbaijan LLC was established in October 2002 as an information agency on the initiative of President Heydar Aliyev of Azerbaijan and President Vladimir Putin of Russia. In May 2002, Interfax-Azerbaijan Information Agency LLC started operating with a 100% ownership of Interfax-Azerbaijan LLC.
The main purpose of the agency is to inform the world community accurately, objectively and promptly through the global operating system of Interfax about the processes taking place in Azerbaijan and to spread complete and accurate information about the realities of the country. The agency publishes special online information products “Azərbaycan Xəbərləri” and “Новости Азербайджана” on the websites www.ifx.ru and www.interfax.az. Every day, the agency’s correspondents prepare and share more than 70 pieces of information covering the socio-political and financial-economic news of Azerbaijan.
The agency’s reporting is cited by leading world agencies such as Reuters and Bloomberg. Interfax is one of the leaders among CIS news agencies in terms of media coverage.
