SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf visited Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
During the visit, the delegation comprising representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and SOCAR held a number of meetings with senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Côte d’Ivoire and representatives of the country’s energy sector. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was represented by Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and accompanying officials.
During meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy of Côte d’Ivoire, the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons of the Ministry, as well as the management of Côte d’Ivoire’s national oil company PetroCI, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, including the implementation of joint projects in the oil and gas industry, investment opportunities, and energy security.
The meetings also included comprehensive discussions on SOCAR’s acquisition of a 10 percent participating interest in the Baleine oil and gas field development project, including the project’s development stages, production potential, logistics, and commercial aspects. The strategic importance of the project in terms of expanding SOCAR’s operational footprint in Africa and strengthening its position in international energy markets was emphasized.
