SOCAR’s Personnel Training Centre (PTC) operates to train highly qualified national personnel, upgrade, educate, train and retrain workers in the country for the reconstruction of the oil industry infrastructure.
The centre equipped with information technology has a rich material and technical base, modern laboratories and training workshops.
The centre offers training in the following trades:
- electric gas welding
- control and measuring devices, automation
- internal combustion engine technician
- crane operator
- technological compressors operator
- fitter mechanic
- technological facilities fitter
- technological facilities operator
- electric equipment fitter and operator
- oil and gas well drilling assistant
- oil and gas production operator
- rigging
- lifting operator
- lathe operator
- chemical analysis laboratory assistant and other professions
Education in these courses consists of theoretical, practical and industrial training. The theoretical part is 30% of the curriculum, and the practical and industrial training is 70% of the course. In the theoretical part, the students are trained in occupational safety and health, basics of Azerbaijani legislation, materials science, electrical engineering, technical drawing, English, computer technology and physical education basics. In the practical part of the training, classes are conducted by highly qualified production training masters in rooms with material and technical facilities. Students studying at the centre are provided with a monthly bursary, special clothing and daily lunch.
The centre also organises courses on SAP MM - Materials Management Module, SAP FI - Financial Accounting Module, SAP SD - Sales and Delivery Module, SAP PM - Maintenance and Repair Module, SAP OPENTEXT - Electronic Document Management System, SAP HR - Regulation of Human Resource Functions and SAP PS - Project Management Module. At the same time, the courses are taught through an eco-driver simulator installed at the training centre under the National Action Plans to Reduce Carbon Emissions in Azerbaijan’s Fuel Consumption Sector (NAMA), a joint project of the UN Development Programme and SOCAR.
The centre offers courses in more than 400 trades. To participate in the competition organised by SOCAR’s Human Resources Department (HRD) on the process of enrolling students in specialties taught at PTC for 6 months or a year, you may visit www.socar.az to apply (e-application) to the Admission to the Training Centre subsection under the Career menu. Candidates are admitted to the second stage of the competition if they meet the conditions specified in the Rules for admission of students to SOCAR’s training centres. The second stage of the competition for admission to training centres is interview/document verification. Those who succeed in the interviews get the right to participate in the third stage of the competition - the test exam. The candidates with the highest scores in the test are eligible to study at the training centre.
Young people who meet the following requirements can participate in the competition for admission to PTC:
- Citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
- Under 29 years of age on the date of the competition.
- Secondary special education, initial vocational education or at least complete secondary education (currently young people who are continuing education and higher education cannot apply);
- Military ID (applicants for the “Shooter” profession must have served in the military, regardless of whether they have served in the military in other professions).
The following documents are required for the interview:
- Identity card (original)
- Diploma or certificate (original)
- Original military ID (for men)
- Health certificate (Form 86)
- X-ray (fluorography, it is necessary to bring a picture of fluorography)
- IDP card (for residents of Sumgayit city and Absheron region)
- BC category driver’s license (Applicants to the profession of loader driver)
