Training Centre for Human Life Safety at Sea


The main function of the Training Centre for Human Life Safety at Sea is to organise training of various courses (50 items) of in-service training, improvement and instruction for offshore workers, including divers in accordance with the requirements of the State Maritime and Port Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and the International Maritime Contractors Association (IMCA).

The training centre was accredited by the UK’s Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation (OPITO) for teaching the courses on Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET), Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) and Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET). This accreditation serves to meet the training needs of engineering and technical staff and specialists of external organisations working on SOCAR’s offshore oil and gas platforms and facilities in the areas of health, labour protection and safety, as well as emergencies, emergency situations and risk control.

The centre provides practical training in a 50 m long, 21 m wide specialised swimming complex equipped with modern simulators, life-saving training blocks, various types of collective rescue vehicles (fast and non-fast lifeboats) and relevant fire equipment. The training courses are held at a training ground equipped with smoke labyrinths and firefighting simulators, including a diving station and an aerospace chamber.

It is recommended to apply to TECD training centre or relevant department to attend the retraining, second vocational training and education courses.
